Fathom were commissioned to design a new sculptural pavilion in Coal Drops Yard for Related Argent on behalf of King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership.
Referencing the surrounding brick railway infrastructure, our pavilion is carefully articulated as a series of engineered timber arches which minimise impact on key views through the site.
The pavilion can house single or dual units and its triangular plan avoids the need for complex underground service disruption while creating more animated, retail-focused streets.

From the earliest project stages, we identify innovative and resourceful ways to re-purpose materials and carefully balance design decisions to reduce environmental impact.
Our collaborative approach to The Waterman’s reinvention minimised waste on site, avoided unnecessary specification and reduced cost and carbon.
Material re-use was key to our circular economy approach. This included 2.3 tonnes of steelwork, 5,000 bricks, 3 tonnes of glass and 185m2 of timber flooring – the combined carbon saving equating to over 10,000kgC02e.

Cavell House is a prominent building with a rich history – including its role as the original Westminster City Hall – located at the southern end of Charing Cross Road. Although the classical Portland stone façade is Grade II listed, behind it lies a compromised 1980s office redevelopment.
We are working alongside a client and consultant team to develop a scheme to address these challenges, explore options to create additional area and establish a unified building with an improved relationship with its prime location.
